Building Relationships2

Building Relationships with God’s LoveWeek Two – ‘Love is Kind’Keep My Distance - Luke 10:30-31Curious but Uninvolved - Luke 10:32Treat Others How I Want to be Treated - Luke 10: 33Memory Verse“"Treat other people exactly as you would like to be treated by them”. Matthew 7:12 (Phillips NT)1.Start seeing the needs of people around me“...when he saw him, he took pity on him”.Luke 10: 332.Sympathise with people’s pain“He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others.” 2 Corinthians 1:4 (NLT)3. Seize the moment“He went to him, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, brought him to an inn and took care of him.” Luke 10:34“Do not withhold good from those who deserve it when it’s in your power to help them. If you can help your neighbour now, don’t say, ‘Come back tomorrow, and then I’ll help you’.” Proverbs 3:27-28 (NLT)4.Spend whatever it takes“Then he put the man on his own donkey, took him to an inn and took care of him. The next day he took out two silver coins and gave them to the innkeeper. 'Look after him,' he said, 'and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.' Luke 10:34-35 (NIV)•God has been kind to me. And, by the way, it wasn’t some casual favour. It is extravagant kindness that God has shown to us. •Kindness is an act of worship. •Kindness honours God. •Showing kindness makes us happy. •Being kind makes other people want to be kind to you. •God blesses those who are kind, and repays us for any kindness we do to others. “Feed the hungry and help those in trouble. Then your light will shine out from the darkness, and the darkness around you will be light as day.........You will be like a well-watered garden, like an ever-flowing spring” Isaiah 58:10-11 (NLT) “Dear God, thank You for Your extravagant kindness to me. I’m so grateful that you sent Jesus Christ to die for me. Father, I don’t want to be unkind or apathetic: I really want to be more loving. Help me to slow down and start seeing and sensing the needs of people around me. Help me to be a better listener so I can sympathise with people. When interruptions come, help me to see them as opportunities to grow in kindness, to be more loving. Help me to be willing to take risks and conquer my fears in order to help others. Help me to make myself available to you today, so you can use me to show Your kindness and love to others. In Your name, I pray. Amen.”
